REVIEW - BBQ Baroudeur

The compact BBQ that goes wherever you go on your rooftop tent adventures

This week, we took advantage of a beautiful sunny day (yes, they do happen in Auvergne too) to test out a grill that had been catching our eye for a while.

The Baroudeur is a portable, ultra-compact grill designed for those who are always on the go. Obviously, when you’re traveling with a roof tent, every inch counts. And in that regard, it checks all the boxes: its compact size makes it easy to find a spot for it in the car without sacrificing space for the rest of your gear.
A little extra we immediately appreciated: the carrying bag—simple but really practical.

Unboxing and Setup

Let's unpack all of this.

The set includes the panels to assemble, the grill, the handles, a windshield, and even skewers.

Assembly is quick and intuitive. The pin system is simple, effective, and—most importantly—perfect for camping: you don’t want to spend 20 minutes setting up a grill when you’re hungry…

Here, it only takes a few minutes to get everything ready, and in the end, this barbecue is really cute!

Let's get started with the test

Obviously, we weren't going to stop at just setting up the barbecue for a few photos…

We went with some tried-and-true favorites: sausages with onions, pork ribs, a Camembert, and—since we had to treat ourselves—chocolate-covered bananas.

Fire starter, charcoal… and it gets going fast. Really fast, in fact.
The coals catch fire quickly and the grill heats up nicely. It gets really hot, yet remains easy to control.

The handles are also well-designed and really handy when you need to move the grill, especially to adjust for the wind direction.
Verdict on the plate: a real treat.

We're putting out the embers

As always, no waste!

Next up: Camembert and chocolate-covered bananas to make the most of the remaining heat.
Once again, quick and easy to make. Exactly what you want on a road trip: simple, delicious, and hassle-free.
