Roofwander is celebrating its first anniversary and continues to grow
Launched in 2025, Roofwander’s mission is to make it easier for individuals to rent roof tents from one another. One year after its launch, the young platform is reporting encouraging initial results and is already planning for the future.
The idea behind Roofwander is simple: to allow owners to make the most of a rooftop tent that is often used only a few weeks a year, while offering travelers the chance to try out this way of traveling before committing to a purchase.
A cross between an outdoor marketplace, a secure rental service, and a discovery tool, Roofwander is part of a major trend: making roof tents more accessible, more flexible, and easier to try out.
Encouraging initial results
According to figures released by the team, Roofwander currently has 650 registered users, 230 active tents on the platform, and 70 rentals completed since its launch.
These figures are still modest on a market-wide scale, but they reflect a growing interest in renting rooftop tents from other individuals. In an industry where purchasing often requires a significant investment, renting seems like a natural way to try it out.

The Challenges Facing a New Platform
Like any project in the development phase, Roofwander has also identified several areas for improvement. The main issue encountered involves compatibility between vehicle roof racks and certain tents.
Several rentals had to be canceled for this reason. The team is currently working on verification tools and educational content designed to minimize this type of situation.

Roofwander Returns to the RTT Festival 2026
Having already participated in the 2025 edition, the Roofwander team will also be back at the RTT Festival on September 11, 12, and 13, 2026, at Lac de Madine.
