We tried out Locanoë, located on Route de Florac, and chose the “Discovery” tour. It was a roughly two-hour trip that gave us a wonderful glimpse of the exceptional landscapes of the Tarn Gorges, with their crystal-clear waters, limestone cliffs, and unspoiled nature.

To fully enjoy this exceptional setting, we chose to stay at the Yelloh! Village Nature & Rivière campground, and we were not disappointed in the least.

As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by Catherine, who was smiling, kind, and very attentive to her guests.

The campground is exceptionally well-maintained, very clean, and has a warm, authentic atmosphere.

Nestled among the trees and right on the banks of the Tarn, it offers a chance to live in harmony with the water and nature.

Waking up to the sound of birdsong, morning swims, al fresco meals with a view of the mountains, and, the icing on the cake, the gentle murmur of the Tarn River flowing day and night.

A true haven of peace for nature lovers.

Saint-Chély-du-Tarn: a must-see destination

We also took the opportunity during our stay to explore Saint-Chély-du-Tarn.

Well... "discover" is an understatement.

We had planned to just stop by briefly, but the beauty of the place immediately captivated us. We couldn’t leave without taking the time to stroll through its narrow streets and admire the scenery.

Between the river with its emerald-green waters, the towering cliffs, the charming houses, and the famous waterfall that flows through the village, you’re sure to be amazed at every turn.

The village’s history is just as fascinating as its natural surroundings, making it a must-see stop during a visit to the Tarn Gorges.

A warm welcome: another of the region’s treasures

Beyond the beauty of the scenery, what really stood out to us during our stay was the warm welcome we received from the locals and local business owners.

Whether in shops, restaurants, at activities, or simply while strolling down a side street, we were always greeted with a smile.

The locals are happy to take the time to chat, share stories about their village, or recommend the best places to visit.

Local shopkeepers and tourism providers are approachable, friendly, and genuinely committed to their community.

You’re not just visiting a beautiful part of Lozère. You’re also experiencing the authenticity of a region where hospitality is still a core value.

This warmth and simplicity add an extra dimension to the stay.

A detail that’s anything but, and one that goes a long way toward making you want to come back.

Our only regret? Not having had more time.

This region is simply beautiful.

And yet, we’ve only explored a small part of it.

One thing is certain: we’ll be back to continue exploring this true gem of the Lozère region.
